ABSTRACT

Many people ®nd it dif®cult to ask for support. In this respect the caring professions, which employ a huge range of people with a wide variety of experiences, are not dissimilar to the general population. Attitude, experience and the setting they are in all make it more or less challenging to do so. This chapter will discuss the reasons why it can be hard for an individual who works in the caring professions to request support and how the workplace affects that.
