ABSTRACT
Jihadi trends in the Saudi Kingdom resulted from an interplay of two historical processes: the evolution of Wahhabi Islam, which often espoused a violent response to both non-Wahhabi and its own Wahhabi believers, and the building of the Saudi state, of its institutions and internal power structure, which had a restraining and institutionalizing effect on radical Islam in the Kingdom.
