ABSTRACT
Pakistan, created to safeguard the identity of a religion, is the realization of a fundamentalist imagination.1 Therefore, it is difficult to categorize Pakistan as a state. “Rogue,” “problem” and “failed” are terms that are frequently applied to the country. This chapter explores the mechanisms of defense employed by Pakistan to preserve its unique identity and existence, and discusses how religion influences its foreign policies towards its neighbors.
