ABSTRACT
Mullin, who wrote a book on the Birmingham investigation (Mullin, 1986) made no great claims for his skills. When asked how he uncovered those whom he believed had really carried out the Birmingham bombings, he replied ‘by simple detective work of the sort one would commend to the West Midlands police’ (Lennon, 1991). ‘Most people travelling on the buses noticed that there was something wrong in these cases, Guildford and the Birmingham Six’ said Mullin, wondering why the judicial system got them so wrong.
