ABSTRACT
Contrary to what Rudyard Kipling said in his “Ballad of East and West,”1 the East and the West meet through foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into South East Asia and even Latin America. Yet, this chapter embarks on the observation that they have not met in the past and are not likely to meet in the near future on as large a scale as in the Middle East and the entire African continent.
