ABSTRACT
I read Göran Ahrne’s paper with great interest and am delighted to learn that we at least agree about something. Despite the fact that the concept of social class has been declared obsolete many times, it has indeed, as he puts it, ‘been shown time and again to explain a significant amount of the variations in human actions and attitudes’. Unfortunately, where class is concerned, we seem to disagree about almost everything else.
