ABSTRACT

This book opened with a conversation, and now, as we come to a close, we offer this chapter, which is a transcript of part of a conversation that took place using Skype, between an international group of well established researchers who use qualitative methodologies. The purpose of the discussion was to invite these researchers, all of whom are contributing authors in this book, to share their thoughts regarding the strengths and challenges of engaging in qualitative research, and to offer some pearls of wisdom for undertaking qualitative research based on their experiences. Throughout the conversation, the researchers drew upon their chosen methodology to provide context to some of their comments. The conversation lasted for well over an hour, and as such, the transcript below has been edited; however we have sought to retain as much of the original dialog as possible. As a group we enjoyed engaging in this conversation and we trust, that in these final words, you will read something that resonates as you learn more about yourself as a qualitative researcher . . .
