ABSTRACT
This chapter is predominantly a case study, analysing small-scale flood risk reduction measures and the reactions of those in the affected communities. Our survey results show the extent, in this location, of responses from the public in terms of this type of self-help action. The results may be case specific, but we relate our results to a simple model of decision making, and conclude with some generalisations which we hope will be valid elsewhere.
