ABSTRACT
One of the aims of the Foundation Stage curriculum is to develop inchildren an awareness of their place in the world and to help them to make sense of it. This results in geography being central to early learning and apparent in all six areas of learning while being at the heart of ‘Knowledge and Understanding of the World’. We use the term ‘geography’ in this chapter to highlight the experiences and skills that are essentially geographical but often set within the context of other areas of learning and Key Stage 1 curriculum.
