ABSTRACT

Like nature, all the live arts of the Trinidad Camboulay1 Street Dance-Play are interrelated, and when studied in depth, they reveal how a holarchy of natural processes ± biochemical and psychosocial ± come into play and interact to produce and nurture a social theatre of Afro-Caribbean resistance. While emphasising a cross-fertilising of the scienti®c (symptomatic) with the folkloric or metaphysical (symbolic), this chapter limits itself to:

1 Determining how and why the participation and enjoyment of the Camboulay Street Dance-Play (through the mind and emotions) can have a neuro-immuno-modulatory (NIM) healing impact on the human body.
