Modern media myths

The more I think about modern media myths, the more a number of turning points in the media crystallize in my mind, as well as a realization of just how many false predictions there have been, and how many misunderstandings. I take it as an agreed starting point that the modern mass media is the single most important, or at least one of the most important, instruments of language change. Where then is the mass media heading, at what pace, and with what effect on communication and society?
