ABSTRACT

The purpose of this essay is to discuss military-related confidence-building measures (CBMs) that Beijing has utilized over the past decade, and to see if they could be extended to relations with Taipei over a period of several years to reduce tensions (see Appendix 1). These CBMs involve the People's Republic of China's (PRC's) People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Republic of China's (ROC's) military on Taiwan. 1
