ABSTRACT

Concurrent planning is an approach to permanency planning for children in the care system. Based on the work of Linda Katz (Katz et al., 1994), this method has been pioneered over the last 20 years by the Lutheran Social Services in Seattle, yet remains very much in its infancy in the UK. With only three projects – in Manchester, Brighton and London – operating a concurrent planning scheme, there is still some way to go in terms of developing this exciting and challenging new approach to care planning for babies and very young children who are the subject of care proceedings.
