ABSTRACT

Passed from pillar to post for my first two years of life, in foster care from the age of two to twelve years, orphaned and then two years later adopted at the age of fourteen – this all seems a little harrowing when first heard. However, having only known stable foster care, and being fortunate enough that my newly acquired family were, in fact, all related to me as my paternal aunt and uncle and cousins, who became my sisters, eased the blow – at least for me anyway.
