ABSTRACT
Most people know that there is a dispute about the origin of punk in the 1970s: about whether it started in New York or in London. But what about punk in places such as Mexico City and Toronto? What are the conduits by which punk and hardcore travel? Is it an example of cultural globalization or is punk itself shaped by Canadian and Mexican social structure, institutions and culture?
