ABSTRACT
This chapter will give three stories from research with adult numeracy students in London. First, I will say something about myself, so you know the dilemmas that led me to the research project from which the stories are drawn, and I will describe how the research got started. After that, the stories, with students’ and my own comments; and I will be trying to open up the issues and ask how they are relevant for you, in your own context.
