ABSTRACT

One of the findings to emerge from a study of treatment compliance at the Brandon Centre was that adolescents who present with symptoms of moderate to severe antisocial behaviour are likely to drop out from psychotherapy (Baruch et al., 1998). This would seem to indicate that the needs of a significant number of psychologically and socially vulnerable young people who are at risk to themselves, to others and to the community at large, are not being met through traditional psychotherapeutic provision. This finding is consistent with the findings from many studies of effective treatment for conduct disorder (see Lipsey, 1995; Andrews, 1996).
