ABSTRACT
So, on behalf of which children are we speaking, writing, studying and thinking? This chapter aims to help you begin to address this question by exploring the relatively new and rapidly developing field of the sociology of childhood. In order to do this, we shall begin by looking at a set of wider sociological issues to do with race, class, gender and human identities.
