ABSTRACT
Since this is a vast area we have selected issues particularly relevant to women with respect to drug treatments, electroconvulsive therapy and psychosurgery. We shall also discuss hormonal treatments for psychiatric problems. The appendix at the end of the chapter describes particular factors that should be borne in mind when prescribing psychotropic medication to women.
