ABSTRACT
There is an overarching correspondence between the program of John McDowell’s Mind and World and the writings of T.W.Adorno.1 At the last, both contend that the very possibility of there being rational knowing and meaning depends upon displacing the disenchanted conception of nature (and so society) that is a product of the domination of natural science over the modern world-view.
