ABSTRACT
The purveyors of quack cures have been particularly successful at exploiting this ambivalence, often repackaging ancient medical practices in the language and symbols of modern science. It is perhaps in this area of “alternative medicine” that the dangers of the anti-science movement are most immediately apparent.
