ABSTRACT
As the writers of this chapter we feel strongly that the reader should not see it as either a postscript which we have merely tacked on or a post-mortem on something which has finished. Neither is it merely an addition or an aside to the individual chapters. Rather we would like it to be seen as a means by which to express the collective voice of those who are represented here and hope that the comments we articulate will be carried forward into the work of others. We have written this final piece not as any form of closure, but as more of an interchange which we came to via a number of routes and left by others, having gone round in a number of thought-provoking circles! We invite the reader to do the same, and feel that the themes which we discuss in this chapter may provide sign-posts to a number of fundamentally important avenues along which to truly expand the New Literacy Studies.
