ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses biofuel production in the EU, an economic bloc of industrial nations on the European continent. Since its inception, the EU has strongly focussed on the development of energy security and on improving coherence between the different rural regions. A strong policy stimulating farm development and agricultural output has been one of the most distinct instruments. Up to date, agriculture and rural development make up a large share of the EU budget.
