ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The New Feminist Revolution in Religion discusses the compatibility of the digital world with feminism. Men have traditionally dominated leadership in religion, as in society generally. Education in and communication of religious issues have often taken place in venues where women were excluded, in languages in which women were not fluent. Social media largely dismantles hierarchies based on gender, education, and social status. Wagner and Scott explore alternative feminist imaginations of creativity that might be more helpful to women who are hurting due to bodily limitations that might provide alternatives for these women. This volume of sixteen essays opens up a great diversity of subjects. It begins to allow us to realize the transformative possibilities that are being made available to people, especially women, thanks to social media technology. This is hardly the end of this fascinating subject.
