ABSTRACT

Numerous inhibitory factors have impacted the low environmental performance in Ukraine. The underdeveloped legal framework and lack of finance have hampered the growth of the green economy model. The international norms of sustainable development and green economy implementation need more sophisticated national legislation and public instruments in the field of ecology sustainable growth and rural development. However, the wide spectrum of bottom-up initiatives has assisted Ukraine's transition to sustainable development with innumerable conferences, workshops and seminars to prompt greening in Ukraine. Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs), assisted by many international institutions have been urging for the integration of sustainable practices into tourism and organic farming The eco-building movement has been inspired by a combination of organic farming and tourism advantages in different forms providing for diversification and the elaboration of innovative tourism products. A few official and unofficial eco-labelling systems have nevertheless elevated the tourism litmus test of the green economy transition in Ukraine along with international certification systems.
