ABSTRACT

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is a new name for a newish set of technological advances. ICTs have revolutionised many areas of our lives but have had relatively little impact on the practice of clinical medicine. There are potentially many applications of this technology in clinical work but we shall discuss its application to the assessment of patients and its possible use in clinical settings, particularly in relation to the ‘common mental disorders’ (Goldberg and Huxley, 1992) of anxiety and depression seen in primary care.
