ABSTRACT

The school also had a commitment to working with outside agencies to promote both curriculum and professional development. A media adviser had worked in the school previously and the children had experienced activities in which visual literacy was investigated through photography. They had explored ideas of identity and projection of self-image through topics based on fabrics and fashion and local history, using photographs and photocopies to consider the effects and purposes of manipulating presentation by framing, cropping, enlarging, reducing, cutting with scissors and pasting with glue (Walton 1995).
