ABSTRACT

Multimedia is generally related to the emerging fast-growing industrial activities based on new network technologies (e.g., Internet) and new products, processes and services integrating a variety of media (text, graphics, audio, pictures, animation, video, etc.), available in a digitized format that can be accessed interactively. These activities are perceived as the growth industries of the future and affect the concerns of a wide range of players, including network operators (for online multimedia), hardware producers (servers, computers, etc.), the media industry, service providers and content providers (entertainment industry, software producers, etc.). In this realm, new and established firms are active.
