ABSTRACT

When something is learned during the practice of working in a company or an organisation, is that the end to the process or is the process of learning something that permeates the workplace well beyond the specific learning event or experience? The arguments advanced in previous chapters demonstrate that the process of learning in workplaces is not restricted to single learning events or experiences but, rather, that learning is a complex process that extends far beyond the individuals or the work team who have done the learning. What is important is for all people in companies or organisations to recognise this complexity and its duration as it permeates through the company or organisation, or across companies and organisations. These understandings demonstrate how transfer of learning can strengthen workplace learning and, by so doing, lead to smarter results.
