ABSTRACT

Egypt is located in the northeast of Africa facing the Mediterranean Sea on the north, bounded on the south by Sudan, on the west by Libya, and on the east by the Red Sea, Israel, and Palestine. Cairo is the capital city and also the largest city. There are numerous smaller cities and villages scattered along both sides of the Nile river and in the Nile delta. A population explosion is a serious threat to Egypt. The population is almost 60 million and growing, with most of the population engaged in agriculture (Europa 1998).
