ABSTRACT

In his rejection of the levelling influence of the global village, Esteva-Fabregat points to the fact that although we live in a world that seems to be shrinking due to a process called globalisation, this same world continues to recreate its cultural diversity. Not only do human beings continue to separate themselves into diverse cultural traditions, they seem to use globalisation itself in the process. How they do that and how that affects power relations between women and men in European societies is the subject of this chapter.
