ABSTRACT

John Locke, medical doctor, psychologist, economist, biblical exegete, naturalist, amateur scientist, may also with some careful qualification be called an ‘educationalist’. He published a book, Some Thoughts concerning Education in 1693; he had been writing on the subject of education from at least 1684. […] The title of the published version, Some Thoughts, indicates Locke’s view of that work. Many of his books carry similar modest titles: A Letter concerning Toleration (1689), an Essay concerning Human Understanding (1690), Some Considerations of the Consequences of the Lowering of Interest and Raising the Value of Money (1692). His political work was more definite: Two Treatises of Government (1690).
