Exposing miscarriages of justice: an example from BBC’s Rough Justice

In 1974 an IRA bombing in Birmingham killed twenty-one people; the men convicted at the subsequent trial were later found to have been convicted wrongly on the strength of flawed evidence and forced confessions. The same year, 1974, bombings in Guildford and Woolwich resulted in the conviction of four men who were to be released in 1989, having been found innocent.
