ABSTRACT

This pilot study provides the first opportunity to report on some preliminary findings from research studying the general use and strategy of information and communication technologies (ICTs) within Danish political parties. The objective is to identify whether the political parties have set up certain strategies1 for using the new technologies in their communication with the electorate/citizens, as well as for intra-party communication with their members. The intention is to show how the political parties perceive the adaptation of ICTs vis-à-vis the electorate and members, and if this changes the connection between the party leadership, on the one side, and the members and the electorate, on the other. The data used for answering these questions will be interviews with the political spokespersons and ‘webmasters’ of the four major political parties represented in the Danish parliament (‘Folketing’).2
