ABSTRACT

This chapter is designed to help teachers prepare their students for peer tutoring. In the same way that our colleagues may react against change, our students, too, may be reluctant to try a new way of learning. Therefore, we start the chapter by considering some methods of persuading students to give peer tutoring a try. We then look at ways of ensuring that essential training takes place, and a number of training methods and techniques for supporting students are reviewed. We then look very briefly at some guidebooks and training materials. The chapter concludes with a brief review of an evaluation of peer-tutor training.
