RASHEED ARAEEN: Eddie, to begin with, thanks for coming over to have a chat together about various issues vis-à-vis black art. One of the reasons why I wanted to talk to you was the fact that you were perhaps the first person in Britain to use the term ‘black art’ in a definitive manner, in 1981, and since then you have been writing to explain what is black art. Your position has been consistent with your practice as a politically committed radical black artist.
