ABSTRACT

In this chapter, three teachers write from three different positions in the education system. One is an in-service educator in counselling and guidance and a researcher, one is a teacher in a primary school and one is the team leader of a primary behaviour support service; each sees their role as primarily concerned with listening to children. First the context of education as a work setting will be explored and then case studies of work with children will be described. The issues for those listening to children in education are integrated within these case study examples.
