ABSTRACT
This chapter is part of a wider research project, ‘Household structures, household transitions ang geographical mobility’, which aims to increase our understanding of the sources of change in the structure of households, in particular changes in non-pensioner, one-person households, that have taken place over recent decades. The role played by migration in household change, and the influence of gender on these changes in one particular theme of the research.
