ABSTRACT
In this chapter we seek to provide a comparative analysis of the national industrial relations systems of the five countries in the study. There is a particular emphasis on the role of trade unions. We offer a selective overview, as our main concern is to explain those aspects which will be essential to a fuller understanding of the subsequent chapters.1
