ABSTRACT
The alcohols are a group of chemicals, most of which are toxic. The most common is ethanol or ethyl alcohol, which is obtained by the fermentation of sugar. It is nontoxic, except in large and chronic doses, and has been enjoyed as a beverage for many centuries.
