ABSTRACT

Until December 1941, when the USA was attacked and became a belligerent, American diplomats had been an important source of information concerning the fate of European Jewry under Nazi occupation. After the United States entered the war, Europe became more isolated and information less accessible. However, the Soviet press, a variety of informers, representatives of the underground movements and Germans passed information to the west via neutral countries. The fate of the Jews was included in many reports, while some were entirely dedicated to the situation of the Jews.
