ABSTRACT
Julius Cresar gone by 'Since Cassius first did whet me against Cresar' and he has had time to give Ligarius reasons for joining the plot (II.J.215-l9). Shakespeare is using 'double time', but not systematically; he is aware of the lapse of time in Plutarch, but also wishes to give speed and continuity to the play while omitting some historical incidents.
