ABSTRACT

The dramatic increase in the number of women working outside the home constitutes an unprecedented social change, one that has radically transformed societies over the past thirty years. The growing insertion of women is reflected in different areas of the economy, particularly in higher education, and in many professions. The following chapter analyzes women’s participation in the Mexican labor force and the proportion of women holding leadership positions as managers, officers, members of boards of directors, and entrepreneurs. Thus, as we shall observe, the active presence of women has become evident in every environment.
