ABSTRACT

The predictor domain of the Army’s Project A contains no physical ability tests. This is surprising because some of the jobs that were studied are physically demanding, and one of the five job-performance factors identified in the criterion domain is “physical fitness and military bearing.” Moreover, correlations between predictor and criterion domain variables show that the variables studied only weakly predict the “physical fitness and military bearing” criterion. Additionally, most of the prediction is accounted for by self-reports of “physical condition” from the subscales in the Assessment of Background and Life Experiences (ABLE).
