ABSTRACT

As Wexley and Latham (1991) noted, training and development systems in Europe and North America must be strengthened if their human resources are to be prepared to compete adequately in the future. As the dawn of the 21st century approaches, managers on both continents will have to handle an increase in cultural diversity with sophisticated human resource skills. They will have to understand that employees with different cultural backgrounds do not necessarily think alike about such issues as handling confrontations, or even such basics as to what constitutes a good day’s work.
