ABSTRACT

Although Germany has been accommodating substantial numbers of refugees and immigrants for some years, Germans have realized-and many have started to embrace the notion-that their country has become an Einwanderungsland (land of immigration). In fact, for each year since 2012, Germany has attracted the second largest number of immigrants in the world, after the United States (OECD, 2015a). However, whether Germany is also an attractive destination for the world’s top academic talent is not quite as clear.
