ABSTRACT

This book was compiled during 2011 and published as a special issue in the journal, Urban Research and Practice. It was aimed at giving a wide vision of the situation of urbanism and urban policy in Spanish and Portuguese cities during the last two or three decades, including some particular examples of urban regeneration policies. Both countries have gone through similar processes of economic growth and urban expansion. The economic crisis and the consequences of the bursting of the so-called real estate bubble are devastating at the current moment. This epilogue, written in Spring 2013, updates some of the situations already analysed in the special issue.
