ABSTRACT
This chapter takes a different approach to that of other authors in that it is not intended to be theoretical: it is anecdotal, even autobiographical. The reason for my inclusion in this volume (and for my being invited to speak at the ‘Futures’ conference in 1990, on which this volume is based) is that I happen to have written a book called Future Tense (Hewison 1990).
