ABSTRACT

This chapter explores further how the enhancement of a researcher's reflexivity may facilitate his/her learning of the key aspects of new paradigm qualitative research in the domain of illness, wellbeing and self-growth. The process of cultivating reflexivity among participants began well before they arrived for the workshop. The resource persons engaged with the participants in a talk-cum-discussion on the transcendental or spiritual perspectives on wellbeing, growth and gaining self-knowledge. Participants also discovered strong interrelations between their standpoints, research interests and objectives. As the participants realised, this orientation not only facilitated initiating a rapport or relationship with human beings but also addressed an ethical concern for making QR an enabling or empowering experience for them. The chapter explains the discussion made it very clear to me that based on the ontology and epistemology of the research one has to plan the research methodology.
