ABSTRACT

Eating and feeding problems are a very common cause of concern for parents. In one major study of 5-year-olds, over one-third of children are described as having mild or moderate eating or appetite problems. Two-thirds of these were described as faddy while the rest were considered not to eat enough (Butler and Golding 1986). The more children there are in a family the less likely it is that the younger child will have eating difficulties. Feeding problems are more prevalent among low birth-weight babies.
